Dah lama scene hc/punk local takde comic zine/art zine selain zine Core Peps. Lukisan-lukisan dalam zine ni agak baik gak ler walaupun kekadang jelas ada pengaruh lukisan-lukisan kartunis terkenal yang lain dari comic-comic terkenal di pasaran. Hai Gigi,first shout for opening interview how do you do?(are you fine-ed?)Can you introduce a other Mindsnare line-up and say hai to them?
Gigi: hi brothers of metal!!! Well, i’m fin and so the rest of the band. The line-up, the best since ever is: me,gigi on bass and vocals (born 21.11.1968), chris on guitars (born 2.9.1973) and sergio( born 7.6.1972) on drums!

Can you tell us what is Mindsnare mean to and perhaps give a run-down of your releases?How about Mindsnare album ¡§hegemony¡¨,¡¨Hateful attitude¡¨ and ¡§from blood for dust¡¨. I really excited for that release? Gigi : Mindsnare came from the napalm death’song from harmony corruption album. We liked and we got no other reason to choose this name... In the past, since 1989 to 1999 we suffered so many line-up problems and ripoffs deals so we don’t release cds but 7 demotapes. In 1999 we self released "hegemony" tehn after 3 months, eric from malaysian label psychic scream re-released it with 2 live bonus tracks. Then in 2001 eric released "hateful attitude". In 2002 we signed a deal with american label forever underground and in august 2003 "the noble ancestry" cd was out. And now, in february 2005 the new cd, "from blood to dust" is out, for the same label!!! Every cd is better than the previous, we are very happy about the progress of mind snare through the years...

I think Mindsnare sounds original but still, what bands you think influence your work, consciously and not? I know there must be Carcass, but besides that, what old bands or newer bands do you listen to a lot italy area?Can you give a list cause I don¡¦t know a lot of italy scene?
Gigi: well, our favourite bands that influenced us are some of the past like venom, possessed, celtic frost, evil dead but we liked a lot present days bands like immolation, morbid angel, deicide, vader, sinister(r.i.p.), etc.
Sergio: i like very much, besides death metal, hc stuffs like minor threat, 7 seconds, sick of it all, dri or old thrash gods like exodus
Chris: in italy the scene is good, growing and growing day by day. The best bands are delirium x tremens, c.o.s., necrodeath and many more. But we are the best!!! Ahahahaha!!!

How would define the music you're playing? Is it alot of work to put that kind of songs together? How much much do you rehearse etc...?(it¡¦s not really easy I thinks-ed)
Gigi: death metal. 100% death metal. The songwriting was really slow in the past because we must work to live so we got no much time free. But now, with this line up, the things goes faster: from april to august 2004 we wrote 7 new songs for "from blood to dust" cd cause sergio, the new drummer, is a really good musician and he helps the band really good. We rehearse 3-4 times a week, depends about the work we must do.

I didn't get the chance to read your lyrics, but I think you do write lyrics, am I right? If so, what are they about? Are they part of a concept or something like that?And who arrange/responbility Mindsnare music actually?
Gigi: well, in the past i wrote all the lyrics (except one/ a cd from chris) but now my wife helps me... She is very good to write very deep lyrics. We like to talk about satan, war, humanity. We don’t like splatter/gore/non sense lyrics very much... We prefer to focus our thougths on real things... About music, usually chris wrote most of the riffs. Sergio too do a great job about the songwriting. I like to put the last touches in our songs. But sometimes i wrote some good music...

Do you have more future release plans? Do you know what release you'd like to do put out after that Cd after ¡§from blood after dust¡¨ and ¡§hegemony¡¨?
Gigi: we are planning to do a minicd, maybe in june 2005 but nothing is planned at the moment. We are really satisfied about this new cd. I will like a vinyl release someday but for now is only a dream...

Your view about:
a-Asian tsunamis who killed above 100.000 soul?
Gigi: oh man, i was really desperate about that... The parents of my wife was there, in Thai and we was really scared about that. But they come back safely... A very good luck because on the same day of tsunami, they are scheduled for a trip to puket... Fortunately they was stopped in the airport... I’m very sad about all the victims. Rest in peace brothers

Gigi: personally i like george bush, i’m not joking... I like his way to rules his country. I like the american way of life.

c-Italian scene today?
Gigi: the metal scene? Well, too many power metal / defenders / gothic bands!!! I like only extreme bands!!!

D-Satan?
Gigi: like jesus christ... A kind of entity betrayed by toooooo many people... But i prefer satan to jesus christ... He’s more sincere

If you could pick a band to have a split release with, which one would it be?(what a stupid question-ed) hehehe maybe you have dream to do that?
Gigi: yes..... Venom!!!!!!!!! Personally they are my favorite band so... I’m going crazy every time i listen venom. They remind my youthness, when i was a young headbanger

Can you talk about Italys a bit? What is it like where you live? Do all the members of the band live in the same area? Are you in touch with other bands in the Italy?
Gigi: italy is a really good place to live, but got very high costs... All the people are really interested to do much money, the air pollution is high, but there’s a lot of arts to see... Chris and sergio live in the same city, torino. I was born and lived for 33 years there, then i moved in vicenza, 350 km. Far, cause i married a girl from there. Yeah we know all the best bands in deth metal scene and we are friends of almost of then 10-Can you tell us Mindsnare experience tour performed with Kreator,Malevolent Creation,Vader and etc in Europe (1995)?Just want to know your old story?Gigi: well, it was a real good experience!!! Kreator sucks, they looked us as shit but they are shit, not us... Malevolent creation and vader was really good!!! Like brothers!!! We played in the last years with really good bands like disgorge(mex), purgatory, sanatorium, etc...

Since 1989 perhaps you have trough more experience to make Mindsnare being rock-star in grinding brutal death metal scene actually, do you realize that you can a legendary at your country? Any comment of my statement?
Gigi: believe me, we are the best in italy!!!! But we got too many enemies here so i’ll prefer to be a rockstar in usa or another place like south east asia... I like your scene.

Do you have any contact from Malaysian? Or any band from my country? (I don¡¦t think that accept Malaysian Psychic Scream?When you want to come here..?
Gigi: yes i got a lot of contacts there, cause psychic scream in the past have done a lot of promotion in south east asia. We liked to work with the owner of this label, eric cheah, he was very friendly and honest. I’d lose the contacts with him, but i hope to meet eric in malaysia... Well, a promoter from indonesia are working to do a full south east asia tour. I think that we’ll play in thai, malaysia, indonesia and singapore. Maybe in summer 2005 or winter 2006!!! I know mandatory, herriot, koffin kanser, s6t6n6tion, istidraj, mantak, demizer, war 666 and many more..

Gigi: "black metal" - venom, "reign in blood" - slayer, "hate" - sinister, "de profundis" - vader, "legion" – deicide

Hello,assalamuaikum WBT.Aku sebenarnya aku pun tak tahu yang sebenarnya ada interbiu ni.Biasenya interbiu keje.Tapi kali ini ada interbiu untuk zine pulak,Jadi aku rasa kekok pulak.tapi aku sebenarnya penat hari ini.Itulah kata-kata permulaan.

Walaupun korang dah penat tapi kita tetap teruskan interbiu ni jugak.Kita teruskan dengan soalan pertama.Bagaimanakah dewata ni wujud?Bila? Dimana?
Terima kasih Amri kerana tanya soalan yang agak pening jugak kepala aku nak jawap.Sebab dah lama da benda ni.Dewata tertubuh kalau tak silap akulah tahun 1997.Mase tu ada 4 orang yang apa line-up yang paling asal lah.Aku Ijam pastue bob (ehem ehem) sori batuk, Bob dengan teman dengan Hapis 4 orang di…pendekkan cerita la kan jadi dah bertukar-tukar line-up pastue name Dewata lak diambil sempena sebab dah pening kepala nak pilih nama, jadi kebetulan aku tengok kamus nampak perkataan Dewata dan maksud dewata dia tulis pahlawan, sempena nama tu aku pilih aku amik jadi band dan nama kumpulan kami sebagai Dewata .itu sahaja buat setakat ini.Dan lagi satu kami semua berasal dari Pontian.

Dewata baru tadi lepas perform kat Paul Place, so macam mana performance tadi, ada problem ke dari segi sound ke atau dari segi show?
Tadi overall tadi kita patut tanya orang yang dengar la tapi dari line-up sendiri memang tak puas hati aa sebab pertama sound kacau bilau tadi.Memang bergulung habis, tadi masa duduk kat belakang drum tak dengar apa-apa.yang Hapis pun tak dengar apa-apa. Vokal semua tak dengar. Tapi walaumacamana pun kami memang puas hati a…(puas hati-ed) setidak-tidaknya kitaorang dapat main gig kat KL sebab dah lama kitaorang tak dapat main kat KL.

So macam mana dengan line-up terbaru Dewata.Cerita sikit pasal diorang dengan posisinya sekali?
Ok sekarang ni line-up terbaru Dewata aku Ijam masih lagi kat drum, Hapis gitar dan kitaorang baru je dapat gitaris baru bernama Ikmal.Bassis tetap Yasin dan vocal baru Ajip.

Dewata ada keluarkan T-shirt yang cun melecun.So cerita sikit mana datang t-shirt tu?

Dewata ada record lagu yang di promote kat myspace lagu ‘Ijazahku Mati (Allergy-ed).cerita sikit dan pengertian liriknya?
Ok pertama sekali lagu ‘Ijazahku mati’ kitaorang record kat Bandung tahun 2003.Lagu tu idea dan konsep dia semuanya dari Ijat.Bekas gitaris kitaorang.Dia yang arrange lagu tu sampai jadi begitu.Pastue lirik pun dia buat tapi lirik-lirik tu cerita pasal protes pasal pendidikan sebab pendidikan sekarang ni kalau tak salah aku pun kat Malaysia pun pendidikan termasuk dalam satu lembaga yang besar corruption dia atau rasuah.Jadi kitaorang buat pasal tu lah.kitaorang tak puas hati dengan pendidikan yang ada sekarang ni.

Dewata pernah perform kat Bandung kalau tak silap aku.Cerita sikit.Jauh tul korang pergi tu?
Masa tu kebetulan budak-budak ni tengah free jadi kitaorang boleh perform kat kat sana.Masa tu banyak band macam Dyning Out, Tengkorak aa Burgerkill dan macam-macam lagi aku tak ingat.Mase tu ade metalfest.

Pendapat ko tentang perbezaan ketara band-band underground kita dengan band-band Indonesia.Lagi pun encik sudah lama belajar \ tinggal kat sana?
Ok perbezaan yang ketara satu kalau dari segi ke’terbuka’an diorang, unite diorang tu tak sama dengan yang disini sebab macam kat sana mana-mana band yang main tak kira terkenal atau tak crowd diorang tetap support.Setiap gig yang ada crowd yang datang tetap ramai.jadi sebab itulah organizer dial eh buat event yang berulang-ulang sebab dengan keuntungan tu boleh rolling balik dengan memanggil band-band tak kira ada nama atau tak.Sebaliknya kat Malaysia ni mintak maaflah sebab yang aku tengok kebanyakkan scene contohnya kat KL nil ah tengok support band yang ada nama.band-band yang takda nama selamat tinggal lah bye-bye diorang duduk kat belakanglah tengok dari jauh.Sekian terima kasih.Ohh aku terlupa dari segi sound pun aku tengok dah banyak perubahan aa tapi masih tetap kalau compare dengan Indonesia punyer scene nyer kualiti ape ape diorang recording diorang lebih jauh sebenarnya sebab aku tak tahulah sebab banyak sangat studio lepas tu diorang nyer harga pun berpatutan.Memang berpatutan sangatlah.Lagi satu diorang pun ilmu tinggi.Diorang tak lokek ilmu cam band yang bagus dia tahu ilmu dia bagi-bagi ilmu tu kat band-band yang lain.Sebab itu diorang boleh maju.Pastu diorang nyer scene memang banyak membantu band-band dari macam diorang buat bengkel, diorang ada buat kelas musik.Jadi sebab itu diorang nyer musik jadi lebih maju daripada kita.Macam kita ni tertutup.Kadang-kadang macam band ni dia kutuk band ni main tak bagus.Pastu kata band dia lagi bagus.Jadi sampai bila pun kita tak kan maju.

Selain daripada bermain musik ape lagi yang Dewata buat?Masing-masing tengah keje ka belajar ke?
Ok kalau untuk Hafis dia pakar dalam bidang memanggang mayat hahaha…(geng2 kat dalam umah gelak) dia seorang pembantu perubatan kat hospital Sultan Aminah Johor Bharu.Ikmal dia masih student kat UKM.Yasin pun student gak kat UNIKL.Ajip tak tahu, dia tengah tunggu dia nak sambung belajar lagi dia tengah tunggu.Dia baru je habis.Pastu aku sendiri lak aku sebagai pedagang minyak Baby Johnson hahaha…(haha jugak-ed) Itulah keje yang aku buat.
