How about your latest release 'Black Coats and Bandages' and all your touring from Europe and Canada?
We are waiting on the health of one of our members to recover from illness and we will be back on th e road. europe will be first Rumours of japan too. Black coats has been going great for us, but when we finish a record its out of our hands in a way and we don't really focus on it. I am looking forward to the next record. Canada was fucking brilliant, cool shows and cool people and fucking great bands.
Who was incharge of Clann Zu music and lyrics because I have seen you have using another instrument like electric violin and it's does make Clann Zu different from other bands?
I do the lyrics and the rest of the clann zu lads do the music. We write it all in the same room, it is a 5 way collaboration, we feed off each other musically and the songs are the result of that. We are made up of violin, piano, drums, vocals, and bass and electric guitar. fairly standard instruments, but our use of song structure is not common. We don't have lots of verse chorus type songs. We try and push ourselves as much as we can musically. thats why no album sounds the same from us. and why we will never be a successful band in terms of sales. the majority feeds on mediocrity. or maybe me head is up me arse and we are just shit hahahaha.
Tell us that your lyrics as important as a music or not?Why?
With clann zu, each song has its own centre and focus, sometimes its a vocal line, or a drum part or a violin line or whatever. Each song has its own life. TO me the lyrics are very important, but i realise to other musicians or listeners they may not be as important or not important at all. As some of my lyrics are in irish i know that some people wont understand them. so the emotion i convey while i sing in is very important. I listemn to egyptian singer all the time and i can't understand arabic but i love th e singing and music. I feel the emotion she sings with .
Did you think that hc / punk is very violent / emotional music.What emotions / feelings does hc unleashes or frees in you.Any comment?
Any kind of music can bring about a feeling in me from a folk song to a grind song. As for HC i am a fan of the older NY hc stuff,crumbsuckers, cromags etc. Bad brains and suicidals along with dead kennedy's were my bread and butter for years.
What does true Clann Zu mean to you?Any reason that you are really improved that Clann Zu is against all the useless with a music?
Clann Zu is a vehicle for music i love, we make this music because we love it and it comes from inside us. Its a voice we get to speak with. It s unique to us. we are not a clone . i am proud of that. I=we are lucky we can put records out and play shows. i am forwever thankful of that, adn though im on th ebones of me arse most of the time i don't care because music is my first thought in the morning and my last one at night.
Can you understand that some people can't apperiaciate Clann Zu?
Of course, it would be a boring world if we all liked the same music art film or food. I don't care wether people like it or not. i would still make this music and i think the same still goes for the other members of the band.
Do punk or Hc belong to your musical root or are you really punker pur-sang?Give a name of bands that were important for you?
For me personally, sure punk and hc are parts of my roots but so is folk and traditional irish music and motown, and middle eastern music and so on. I am very very wary of scenes. Scenes start off supportive but become conservative in what they allow or don't allow in their scene. Coolness is a disease.
What do you think about farrenheit 911 documentary it¡¦s show that US are not really freedom that we think.Do you believe that or what?Any comment?
I have not seen it, i reccomened seeing a movie called the corporation. Soem people accuse Moore of being the mc'donalds version of Noam chomsky, but he make speople think so fuck > it , more power to him.

I hate scenes, i don't drunk or smoke or take drugs but thats me, each to his or her own. Just as long as you don't fuck anyone elses life i dont care, do what you want.

I believe everyone who eats meat should have to slaughter one album a year =to get a licence to eat meat. People don't know what they are eating, they don't know its a life, IF people had to kill an animal they would eat less or not at all and have some respect. I am a meat eater and i have slaughtered animals. I don't eat much meat.
Any problem with racism / fascist in your area?
I live in Dublin Ireland and we have never had immigration, we were the immigrants to other countries during the famine and since. We were known as the blacks of europe. So anyone who is racist here should read their history. we have had the benefit of watching other countries deal with racism, so its not as bad here. although it is bad in Belfast. We have had our own hates here, everyone hates travellers (gypsies) and thinks thats ok, and there is still a divide between the loyalists and republicans here. there is a lot of blood on our soil. Facists wouldn't last long here.
Do you agree that Hc/punk (music) can make people (all world) unite with each other?Why?
Music is a common thread between people, its a universal language. Itis one thing that unites us. 12 notes. But i don't belive in world unity, people are inherently fucked, its instinct to try and use power over others. There are too many people on the planet to get along. It should be easy, but i'm not naive. That s=does not mean i think we should not try. Hopefully i'm really wrong and the world unites.
Do you work, so how do you manage you manage your time yo manage all thing when you go for a band?
it is difficult, to maintain relationships or a normal life. all my spare time is spent on music. music means everything to me. I wish we had some more money so we could play more, who knows what will happen. I would like top play shows 365 a year but i have to eat sometimes.
How about melbourne scene and Gw7 communitte today?Anythings change?
I am out of melbourne now, i live in ireland and the restof the band live in australia. It was a great music city before i left and i hope it stays that way. G7 are fantastic. we would not survive without their help. They only care about the music.
What are you seaching while involving in this scene?
Nothin, jus the joy of writing and playing shows. anything else is a bonus. sorry if it s a simple answer buit thats how i feel.
Your goal for your future?
To be able to continue playing music and exploring it and play with lots of different people before i die.
